Humboldt Tri-Kids

Xavier and Quinn competed this year in their first Triathlon! The Humboldt Tri-Kids is an event for kids in Humboldt County ages 7-18. Xavier did the whole thing - all 3 events (swim, bike, run) - didn't place, but had a lot of fun. We always maintain this idea with the kids that it doesn't matter if you win, it's all about having fun! Quinn was part of a relay with his 2 best friends - Finn and Jayce - they DID get a place - 3rd, and are all jazzed up about doing it again next year!

I am so thankful for activities such as this that keep our kids active. It is so important to not live sedentary lives - and yes, my kids love their video games, but it is because of events like these that they are excited to be active OUTSIDE, and helps to balance out the video games. This was a great experience - another thing that our kids have done that Justin and I have never even tried!

Brookings, OR

Sometimes you just have to get up and go... enjoy all the wonderful things out there in the world! We took an impromptu trip up to Brookings, OR.

Pinewood Derby

This weekend was an amazingly busy weekend - Xavier had a basketball tournament, April was teaching, Justin had orchestra rehearsal, and then there was the Pinewood Derby! Quinn got Most Creative Car, and Xavier got 3rd place out of his Den with his car!! (even though his den bridged over 3 days earlier, they were still competing as a group at the pinewood derby)

Xavier Becomes a Boy Scout

Wednesday, February 27, 2013 was a big day for Xavier - bridging over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts AND getting his Arrow of Light.

Xavier's New hair

It has been a while since I have blogged, and I have a big one coming soon - Justin's been working on the boys room, so be on the look out for a special post soon.

Today, Xavier got his hair cut, and while this is not necessarily a new thing, this time I allowed him to color his hair a little. It's kind of the rage right now to have a splash of color, and I'm not opposed to allowing the boys experiment a little - especially with temporary hair color. So... our fabulous hair stylist did a splash of green. It's subtle, but Xavier likes it. Kind of fun!

"My hair is foiled?" This hair dying thing is such a new, and interesting experience.

This picture was inside, with my phone, so it's not the best, but you can see the subtle green. It's definitely more noticeable in the sunlight - and there is a splash in back as well. :)
