Welcome New Year
Ok, looks like the last time I wrote on our blog was 2010, and it was a New Year's Resolution to blog more. I don't know why I let it go, I'm usually pretty good at this sort of thing. I think it was facebook! Well, this year, one of my resolutions is to do facebook LESS! Yes, I got addicted to the site, the games, the chat. Well, here we go again, a new year, new things. I could go back and do a year in review, but I don't think I'd ever finish, so... Starting fresh with this year! Good by 2011 (tonight) and hello 2012 (tomorrow). May this be a trans-formative year!

Another year!
It's 2010... time for new year's resolutions... better at blogging/connecting.
Here is our update:
Selling our house still in Fortuna, had a lot of partial bites, but financing for others have always been a problem. I'm getting fairly worried about it all, but I'm trying to let go of what I cannot change, and try to change what I can. I am trying to let things take their course. With all this selling, we are buying a place back in Blue Lake. I can't wait to move back permanently. Fortuna has been ok, but as far as our social lives, we are north bay people. We belong back in Blue Lake, and the communities of Arcata and McKinleyville, allong with Blue Lake. When things become more permanent, I'll be posting more.
The boys are doing well. The one thing I really LOVED about Fortuna is the school. They had a great education at Amborsini, and i"m a little worried about their education at Blue Lake, but so far, things haven't been too bad. They have been integrating back to the blue lake school life just fine. They go to the afterschool program every day, and Xavier has a really good friend who goes there, quinn a few, so this has been ok.
I am now working in Arcata. I finally quit my horrible job at Rainbow Junction, took me 10 months to finally quit. I had let the need for money get in the way of my happiness and my family's happiness. I was sick, A LOT, due to stress, and the fact that this place reallly was not the healthiest place. I went back to Northcoast Children's Services, and I now work for Children of the Redwoods Infant and Toddler Center. The pay is considerably less, but the work is 10x better! It was worth it, and we are struggling a little with money, but me being happy makes everyone else a bit more happy too.
Justin seems happy still working at Streamline Planning... he does a lot of crazy computer IT stuff. He also does a lot of music still, and of course Humboldt basketball!
Well, for now,we are commuting to and from EVERYDAY... we get up and leave at 7:25. I drop off justin at work, then drop off the boys at school (luckily their school doesn't start until 8:30!!) then I go off and work out at Curves. Sometimes, I do extra work out... running/walking, or swimming. Then I go to work at 12 o'clock, and after work is done, I pick up the boys, then pick up justin. On M and Th I take Xavier to Karate, so we don't pick up justin until 6:30. On T we drop off Justin at Eureka Symphony, and for this month, on Wed. I had rehearsals for chamber music on wednesdays. Weekends get taken up by cleaning up the house here in Fortuna, or fixing up the new house in Blue Lake. We are busy!! We also really want to try to get out to family every week, at least 1, if not 2 family member's houses for dinner and visiting. We are trying! So.. here's to a new year, and hopefully i have more to blog about this year!!

lack of blogging - sorry
Well, I'm not sure if anyone still reads this or not. I know it's mostly been a place for me to put up pictures for everyone to see, and more recently i have just been doing that on facebook. But a quick update for everyone.
Xavier : is in 2nd grade now and excelling greatly in reading and math. He actually gets bored often and I need to find things to help him there. He loves his new bike that grammy got him, and rides it daily. Plus, teaching everyone at the Day Care center how to play pokemon.
Quinn: my big Kindergartener! I cannot believe how the time flies by! He too loves riding his new bike and playing on the new swing set (pictures i hope to upload soon). He is a big time animal lover. Purdy our grey cat has decided that Quinn is his person, and she really is only nice to him, and he just loves her!
Justin: still works in arcata and loves it. He is the basically the IT guy for his work, along with all the other CADD stuff and the occasional surveying. Of course he is still active with music - just finishing up the HLOC musical - the light in the piazza this past august, and in Eureka Symphony as usual. The softball season is coming to a close, where he is part time pitcher for his team, and then HSU basketball season is just around the corner.
Noon: came home from being back at her thailand home over the summer. She has a pretty crazy school schedule, but i'm sure we'll all still manage to have fun and do things regardless of that. she teaches abacus at her school, and i'm hoping she'll teach a little to xavier as well.
Me: ok, so I'm working full time at a preschool/daycare center. It's very hard, but the money is good. The boys come to me after school, so this is nice and convenient. I am also still taking classes online to hopefully finish up my Associates Degree in Child Development by the end of this summer. I have lots of grandioso dreams and goals in my head... hope I can get to them one day.
As for the rest, we're still currently in Fortuna and Last night the moon was spectacular.

HSU Basketball Games
Ok, we are increasingly becoming BIG time Jacks fans... Well, Justin always has been, but as a family, we love it! On Saturday, the Jacks had Family Fun Night... Lots of things for the whole family, including autographs by all the players from both teams (of which Xavier was able to get the entire girls team on his pokemon shirt!) and free pictures taken and put onto a mock magazine cover. As you can tell, we have some happy people.... :)
The game was a big one... HSU lost... BAD refs!! Oh MAN, it was BAD.... and the other team, San Bernardino, were PUNKS!!! Even the other teams coach was chewing out his own guys! lots of smack talking... was not a clean game!! I woke up the next morning with a sore throat because of screaming so hard!! The boys did great, was a long game for them, and they sure crashed at home, but... we all had a lot of fun and the next game is Jan. 31st!!

Books
A friend of mine told me about a networking site for books... I've tried it, but really, not many people who read this blog are into that, so... I invite people who read this blog to say what is on their bookshelf.
I just finished a book called "the yada yada prayer group". Somewhat of an uncomfortable book, I must say. I have a hard time NOT finishing a book. I have only stopped reading a book a handful of times due to the content being too weird or too boring. So, I finished it. It was an easy read, which I need sometimes. I like books that give me a challange, I also like books that don't challange me at all (a fact that I had to tell justin is why there are romance novels in the world... For those of us who need an easy read, barely any plot, and all the lovey dovey stuff, ha ha). What this book did challenge me on was my thoughts. I was totally unprepared for was the contact of the religous talk in the book. I believe that I am a woman of faith. I know that my faith differs from others...I am ok with that, some people are not. Soom people have an all or nothing sort of view on faith. It's not to say that I don't have friends who believe in this way, I definitely do, and I love them all the same. Anyways, back to the book... a lot of hard core, evangelical, fundamentalist style of thinking, and it threw me back. Just a little too much talk on Satan as the cause for the bad and not enough responsibility being taken by those making the bad choices. I firmly believe that we are all given the gift of free will, which means, we are given choices and we choose from the possibilities. There was a lot of talk in the book about being sinners, I suppose that was part of the way of "taking responsibility" for the character's actions, but there was also a lot of talk on "don't let Satan in" to make these women do bad choices. Am I wrong in thinking that this is just another excuse? However, that aside, there were many many elements of the book that I did like. The whole idea of a prayer group appeals to me. especially a prayer group of a bunch of women, from different backgrounds, definitely appeals to me. I definitely wish I had a bunch of girlfriends that I got together with, at least once a month, if not once every other week, just to laugh, cry with, have a common bond, and pray together. I've actually been thinking on how I can get this started, but honestly.... I have "started" or "organized" so many things in my life, i'm kind of wanting to just go to something that I can just go to, and not "organize".
On to some other books. I must say, i'm being very eclectic these days. about 2 months ago or so, I read the Twilight Saga... LOVED it, and after seeing the movie for a 2nd time, I think I need to read them again. Yes, sort of transported me back to my teenage years... the movie is a bit cheesy in that way... the older I get, the more distance from being a teenager I get (i guess that is the whole point, right?) and the more i"m glad i'm NOT a teenager any more, but.... sometimes, you just need to go back in time! twlight and harry potter do that for me. but after reading this saga, I read the Golden Compass trilogy - didn't like the first book much... the style of writing just wasn't my thing, but I liked the 2nd one, and the 3rd book, well, it sort of ended weird for me... it just sort of ended. I then read another fantasy/vampire/witches sort of trilogy by nora roberts... the circle trilogy. I really liked it.... definitely more adult... I needed adult, instead of teenage drama at that point. :)
And what am I reading now? well, I"m onto a Bridget Jones sort of book... british, and well, if you've seen the movie, read the book, you probably know what I mean. the book is called "can you keep a secret" and it was free for me (i got it through a book trade that Curves was doing when I was going to the one in Arcata. So, it's not necessarily a spectacular literary read, im sure. I'm not that far in, but...well, we'll see how it goes.
